Back To The Basics With Niche Blogging

I have talked a bit about niche blogging and my own niche blogging journey but I haven’t really talked much about niche blogging in general and how it’s done.  So this blog post is just going to go back and cover the basics of starting a niche blog.

It doesn’t take long to set up a blog, once you have chosen your niche, done your keyword research and chosen a domain name.

Everyone has a different criteria on choosing a niche, some Internet Marketers will tell you to go with a topic that you are passionate about and others will tell you not to bother about that and just find a niche that is going to be profitable.

Quick Updating All My Blogs Today

Today I havne’t really been concentrating on my main 4 blogs but doing some quick updates on all of my blogs.  I have one blog about my son, who is 10 years old and we have a lot of behavior problems with him.  I started that blog just as a personal thing to have somewhere to write my thoughts, vent my frustrations and just get it all out.  This one has been quite good and I’ve had a lot of response from parents with children with similar problems.

I haven’t updated that one for a little while so that got added to my list today of blogs to quickly update.

I also had to do an update of my new blog sherylpolomka.com which is basically just about me.  Nothing specific, just a general blog where I can write absolutely anything.  The main reason I started this blog was because I was starting with another hosting company and had to have a ‘main’ website to open the hosting account with so I wanted a site that I knew I would keep and wouldn’t sell at a later stage or just let go, so I just grabbed the domain name of my own name.  It’s quite good though, it’s just a bit of fun.

Niche Blogging Update

Once again I don’t really have too much to update about.  Earnings for the last 7 days are very low still:

Blog #1 – $0.68

Blog #4 – $0.54

So as you can see no big income coming in as yet.  I haven’t done much over the last week though due to sick kids and now that they are all better and back at school they have given me their cold so I feel terrible and am not getting much done at all.

Keyword Research for Niche Blogging

A couple of weeks ago I came across a post on the Warrior forum regarding keyword research and this post really hit the nail on the head when it comes to keyword research.  There is so much different information available on keyword research and so many people do so many different things with different criteria so how do you know which one is right.

Well this post was a lot different than any information I’ve read before on keyword research and it made a lot of sense, so here are the six criteria for researching for a good keyword.

1. Competitors on page one of Google for the keyword phrase all have page ranks between 0-4, a good mix is best.

Niche Blogging Update

Not much to share again on the income update.  Over the last 7 days I’ve made $1.16 from Blog #1 and 10c from Blog #3, so no big numbers there but that is ok.

I know this is going so much slower than planned and I have no-one to blame for that but myself.  I spend too much time doing silly little things and not enough time concentrating on building up my blogs.

This week I am still working on Blog #4 – I think I mentioned this one a couple of days ago.  I have written and posted two blog posts over the last couple of days and written two more articles.  I will post these two over the next couple of days.  I am going to write six more articles and post on the blog a day apart.

Niche Blogging Progress

Wow – an income today of 0.82 cents from blog #1

Blog #1 and #2 are still ranking quite well for their main keywords but not yet for any other keywords and traffic is still quite slow.  I will leave blog #2 now for a few days and let some of the backlinks get indexed.  It’s almost time to be working on blog #1 again but I might leave that until next week.

Blog #3 is still dancing around with the Google dance but I haven’t really done anything with it to try and bring it back up again.

Right now I’m working on blog #4, I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned blog #4 before but it is a blog I’ve had since around the end of last year.  It was doing ok but then I let it go for a while and haven’t done much with it over the last few months.  Just taking a good look at all my blogs this one does have a lot of potential.  The only problem with blog #4 is that it is a .info domain name instead of .com, .net or .org and that is my one regret that I didn’t get a .com or .net domain for this blog.  I have done too much to the blog though and spent too much time on it in the past to just let it go.
