I spend some time each day commenting on blogs for the simple reason that it builds backlinks to my websites.  One method that I use to find blog posts is with Google Alerts.  I mentioned this the other day how I set up a Google Alert for the main keywords of one of my sites and I am then alerted whenever that keyword is published online.

So whenever I see a new post published with those keywords I will go to the blog and leave a comment.  By doing this I am leaving comments on blogs that are relevant to my niche.  Although I do also leave comments on blogs that aren’t relevant as I believe any link is better than no link.

Building backlinks is a boring, tedious job that no-one really likes doing and blog commenting is just one way to build some backlinks.  It really doesn’t take long – especially if you set up a Google Alerts so you don’t need to go find the blog posts, they come to you.

What are the advantages of commenting on blogs?

  • You are creating a backlink to your site
  • Visitors from that blog may click on your link and visit your site
  • If there is a ‘recent comments’ widget in the sidebar you can raise your baklinks even higher (although only temporary unless you regularly post on that blog)
  • You are getting out there and communicating with people in your niche and hopefully they will then visit your blog and leave comments.

Blog commenting is a must in this business and if you aren’t doing it then I certainly encourage you to start trying.  There are some blogs that I read daily and I usually try to leave a comment each day.  I don’t always link back to the same site, I can vary the backlinks each time I comment.  By visiting blogs each day that are popular I can then communicate with like minded people and I have found that many of those people have then visited my blogs.

So if you’re not doing it – start doing it today.  Find some blogs and leave comments on them!  Start below, leave me a comment and include a link back to your own blog!
